HealthFusion’s MediTouch EHR has Achieved NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home Prevalidation
SOLANA BEACH, CA – January 7th, 2014 – HealthFusion® announced today that MediTouch EHR® (4.0) is Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Prevalidated by NCQA to receive 23.5 points in Autocredit toward NCQA’s PCMH 2011 scoring. This Autocredit is transferrable to MediTouch EHR PCMH client practices seeking NCQA’s PCMH 2011 Recognition. Most PCMH primary care practices seek recognition from NCQA as the method of proving they comply with the essential principles of Medical Home. This Prevalidation means that just by actively using MediTouch EHR software for the reviewed capabilities associated with MediTouch PCMH Prevalidated modules, a medical practice can be awarded automatic credit. Autocredit reduces the amount of documentation the medical practice needs to gather and present to NCQA in order to achieve recognition as a Medical Home. The PCMH model of healthcare delivery plays a prominent role in the Affordable Healthcare Act and is the foundation of the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) initiative.
This NCQA Prevalidation is evidence of HealthFusion’s strong commitment to Patient Centered Medical Home. “The MediTouch system makes it easier for medical practices to meet the rigorous standards required for Medical Home recognition because it has achieved Prevalidation status,” said Dr. Seth Flam, HealthFusion’s President and Chief Executive Officer. There are fewer than 10 EHR companies that have achieved NCQA Medical Home Prevalidation that are also 2014 Meaningful Use certified. Dr. Flam added, “Our early adoption will afford medical practices the ability to improve their revenues through participation in local ACO initiatives and health plan pay-for-performance programs.”
“By providing software that helps physician practices build the patient-focused, coordinated care infrastructure expected of NCQA patient-centered medical homes, MediTouch is helping practices be part of modern health care’s most important transformations,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “Medical homes are the way of the future, and MediTouch is helping practices get there.”
Fifty percent of all Americans suffer from a chronic disease and the US healthcare system is not set up properly to manage chronic care patients. Medical costs continue to rise because our healthcare system is geared toward episodic treatment of the acutely ill patient and is failing with regard to managing the chronically ill. Primary care is the anchor profession for management of chronic diseases and Patient Centered Medical Home is the primary care model that best addresses the needs of the chronically ill and the management of the health of patient populations. MediTouch EHR is an important solution for managing the chronically ill, optimizing the health of populations, and, in the process, right-sizing healthcare spending such that medical care becomes more affordable.
