HealthFusion is proud to announce our new partnership with the American Academy of Family Physicians
HealthFusion is pleased to announce our partnership with the American Academy of Family Physician (AAFP) to offer MediTouch, a family practice EHR to 120,900 practicing American Academy of Family Physician (AAFP) members. Physician organizations like the AAFP realize their constituents need guidance in choosing software nuanced enough to meet their needs and that best suits their members. Physicians are likewise turning to their specialty organizations for help. MediTouch has previously been recommended by groups like the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), the Dade County Medical Society and the Palm Beach Medical Society.
Our recent partnership with the AAFP came naturally; our system was founded and created by family physicians, after all. Our founders still work closely with our talented IT team to offer the most granular specifications that family physicians need to meet federal regulations, and efficiently provide the highest standard of quality care.
Recent data has shown that 75 to 85 percent of small practices are dissatisfied with the functionality of their EHR. Seventy to 80 percent of current EHR purchases are that of small practices across all specialties looking to replace their current EHR. Practices have had the time to identify the pain points of their EHR, they’ve become savvier about their practice’s software needs, and they’re looking toward their medical societies for guidance during the EHR selection process.
As family medicine becomes more and more central to healthcare, the MediTouch system is prepared to work closely with AAFP members to meet their needs. Our intuitive interface assists with government compliance programs, like Meaningful Use, PQRS and our NCQA pre-validated Patient Centered Medical Home module, and we provide an easy way for family physicians to participate in the lucrative Medicare Chronic Care Management benefit.
The AAFP took into account all of these features when they decided to partner with MediTouch to offer their members exclusive access to our product. Kyle Murphy of EHR Intelligence points out that the AAFP “has remained largely supportive of the EHR Incentive Programs.” Their organization and members have been among the first adopters of EHR technology, so any practice considering our services can rest assured our software will keep pace with new challenges as they arise.
Will this agreement influence the decision of family physicians as they choose their new EHR system? Time will tell, but we think the answer is, yes. The percentage of dissatisfied EHR customers include many family physicians who are searching for a software system to better fit within their practice’s workflow. Murphy concludes that the partnership is poised to steer family physicians in an “obvious direction” when considering a specific health IT platform.
